Srinagar, Nov 19: In a significant step to curb underage driving and enhance public safety, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir has issued a circular prohibiting students from driving motor vehicles to educational institutions. The directive applies to all government and private schools, as well as coaching centers across the Kashmir Division.

The circular mandates strict enforcement, emphasizing that students arriving at schools or coaching centers in motor vehicles will be denied entry, and parents will be promptly informed. It further calls for activating road safety clubs, organizing awareness campaigns in collaboration with the Traffic Police, and educating both students and parents about the legal and safety risks associated with underage driving.

The circular warns institutions of severe consequences for non-compliance, including potential withdrawal of recognition and legal action under the Motor Vehicles Act. The initiative aims to address the rising incidents of underage driving that have led to tragic accidents and jeopardized public safety.
