Baramulla Police Arrest Accused, Recover Stolen Property in Dargah Theft Case

Baramulla, June 16: Baramulla Police have successfully solved the theft cases at Dargah Aaliya in Old Town, Baramulla, with the arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen property.

In a media statement, a police spokesman said on June 14, 2024, the Police Post in Old Town Baramulla received a written complaint from the Intizamia Committee of Masjid Madina Dargah Aaliya, reporting that the donation box had been looted during the night. In response, a case was registered under FIR 142/2024, Section 479 IPC, at Police Station Baramulla, and an investigation was launched.

He said through investigative efforts and technical analysis, the accused, identified as Waseem Ahmad Chichek, son of Abdul Gaffar and resident of Lal Baab Sahab Arampora Sopore, was apprehended. During debriefing, the accused confessed to the crime and led authorities to the location where he had hidden the stolen property, which was subsequently recovered.

Further investigation into the case is ongoing, the spokesman added.
