Srinagar, April 09: Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Thursday, 11 April 2024, in many parts of India as Shawaal has not been sighted in the country, announced Imam Ahmad Bukhari, Shahi Imam, Jama Masjid Delhi.
Crescent has, however, been sighted in Kargil, as per Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Ashria Kargil, Ladakh. Therefore, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow,10 April 2024 in Kargil, Ladakh.
In neighbouring Pakistan, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with provincial and district-level committees, has deployed teams to different parts of the country to sight the Eid crescent. The committees receive testimonies from witnesses who claim to have spotted the new moon, and decisions regarding the commencement of Eid are made based on these reports.

There are mixed reports of sightings of the crescent from various parts of the country. The Hilal Committee is expected to take a final call on the testimonies soon.
