Srinagar, Feb 26: The meteorological department here has predicted the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain and snow at a few middle and higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir during the 1st to 3rd of March.

A meteorological department official told Asian News Hub that there is a possibility of moderate rain and snow at most places in Jammu and Kashmir, with heavy to very heavy rain and snow at a few middle and higher reaches during the period from the late evening/night of 1st March to the afternoon of 3rd March.

He said that a few places may experience thunder, lightning, and hailstorms accompanied by gusty winds during the 1st and 2nd of March.

The meteorological department here also issued an advisory which reads: In view of heavy to very heavy snowfall over a few middle and higher reaches, travelers/tourists are advised to plan accordingly and follow admin/traffic police advisories. The general public in hilly areas is advised not to venture into avalanche-prone and slopy areas (follow avalanche warnings and advisories). There are chances of landslides/mudslides and shooting stones at a few places. Farmers are advised to withhold irrigation and other farm operations during the first week of March.
