Ganderbal, Jan 27: In response to the rising concerns over harassment targeting female students and women commuters on public transportation, the District Administration Ganderbal, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir has taken proactive steps to enhance passenger safety by launching round the clock helpline numbers for assistance to such victims.

The 24×7 helpline numbers, prominently displayed on posters  will be circulated throughout the district. These helpline numbers are designed to empower female victims and witnesses to report incidents promptly, especially within the realm of public transport.

The primary goal of this initiative is to create a safer environment for all public transport users. Authorities are urging the community to actively engage in reporting any such incidents, contributing to the collective effort in curbing harassment against women.

Transportation officials emphasize the pivotal role of community involvement in ensuring the effectiveness of these measures. The recently established helpline is a critical tool for swift response and support, reinforcing the commitment to fostering a secure travel experience for everyone.
