‘A new beginning’: Former J&K CMs take a dig at BJP

With Congress winning the assembly elections in Karnataka on Saturday, two former chief ministers of the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which ruled the State.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), former J&K CM and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah said that after the defeat in the Karnataka polls, the BJP will have no courage to hold elections in Jammu & Kashmir.

“Now there is no way BJP will have the courage to allow Assembly elections to take place in J&K any time soon,” Omar wrote on his Twitter handle.

Another former J&K CM and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti said that Congress winning the Karnataka polls was not easy and hoped that this is “the start of a new beginning for India”.

Mufti tweeted, “Congratulations to @INCIndia for sweeping Karnataka. Wasn’t easy given that BJP unleashed the most vicious communal campaign. The people of Karnataka have rejected division & bigotry. I hope this is the start of a new beginning for India.”
