A strong earthquake of Magnitude 5.0 on the ritcher scale hit Anbaralum city in the northern Iranian province of Golestan on Wednesday, Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

The quake occurred at 14:08 p.m. local time at a depth of 22 kilometres, according to the Seismological Centre of the Geophysics Institute of the University of Tehran.
There have not been reported casualties or destruction following these two tremors.
Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
