Speaking to Asian News Hub (ANH), the Grand Mufti said that Shabaan Crescent has been sighted in Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, the first of Shaban would be on February 22.

He further said, Shab-e-Barat would be observed on Wednesday, March 8.

Celebrated on the 15th of Shaban, Shab-e-Barat night or the Night of forgiveness is a significant Islamic festival. On the night, Muslims worldwide ask forgiveness for their sins from the all-merciful Allah.

Additionally, the night can be used to seek mercy for the deceased and ill family members. It is believed that Allah decides the fortune and the future of every creature of the earth on this night.

Muslims across the world celebrate the night differently depending upon cultural diversity and local traditions.
