They told GNS that the beast was spotted by the joint team in Ghati Behak of Chollan area, following which the men shot him dead.

The leopard, they said, is believed to have killed a 15-year-old Amir Muneer in Kalsan besides injuring a girl at Khater Cholllan, last month.

Since the incidents, the joint team was on alert and had made several abortive attempts to catch the beast alive, they said adding once they failed authorities had directed them to hunt it down.

Notably, another suspected man-eater leopard – attributed to killing two minors – was killed in Boniyar area on July 7.
