Srinagar, July 02: A local court here has sentenced a man to three-year imprisonment for allowing his minor girl to drive a car.

As per reports to CNS, Traffic Court Srinagar on Saturday Convicted Owner of a Vehicle for giving vehicle to Minor girl .The girl (Name withheld) from Srinagar area was Challaned by traffic police for Driving vehicle and the Challan was accordingly presented before the Traffic Court for its disposal were the registered owner of the said vehicle was found guilty.

Additional Traffic Magistrate Srinagar Shabir Ahmad Malik while passing order Said that when the offence under the Act is committed by a juvenile, the guardian of such juvenile or the owner of the motor vehicle shall be deemed to be guilty and shall be liable to be proceeded against and punished.

“keeping in view the facts and circumstances and the statement of the accused person wherein he pleaded guilty, the accused person is accordingly convicted for the commission of offence under Section 199A and Section 180 Motor Vehicles Act 1988”.

“Therefore, under Section 199-A Court sentence the accused to Three (3) Years simple imprisonment and Rupees Twenty Five Thousand (Rs. 25,000/-) as fine and under Section 180, Court sentence him three (3) months simple imprisonment and Rupees One Thousand (Rs. 1,000/-) as fine. Both the sentences shall run concurrently”,the court said.

Meanwhile Court has directed IGP Traffic J&K to conduct a special drive against these minors (Violators).
