Srinagar, May 26 (ANH): The investigation into the death of a woman, who was allegedly beaten by her husband  and in-laws, is going on in full swing while the requisite evidence have been collected by the police.

Talking to The Asian News Hub (ANH), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Rayees Ahmad said that they have collected the requisite evidence related to this case.

“We are on it. We will proceed as per the law,” SSP said.

However, he didn’t divulge the further details about the case.

Pertinently, on Eid day, a woman was allegedly beaten by her husband Tariq Ahmad and in-laws in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district following which she was taken to the hospital where she battled for her life for almost six days and eventually lost the battle at Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura.

Her death also triggered protests by her parents and relatives, who demanded stern action against the involved persons.

Taking note of anger of general public over her death, Baramulla Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) to ascertain the facts behind her death.

Police also lodged a First Investigation Report (FIR) under sections  307, 323 & 498-A of the Indian Panel Code (IPC).
