Srinagar, Feb 28 (ANH): A passenger was hospitalized after sustaining injuries after he was allegedly beaten up by traffic police personnel in Qazigund along Jammu-Srinagar highway on Monday.

Local reports reaching GNS said that an altercation broke out between some passengers and traffic a police personnel after the latter, according to him, damaged glass of a vehicle stranded along the road.

“The traffic police personnel, some six in number, dealt several blows to one of the passengers namely Shafaqat Aslam Bhat of Nowgam Banihal, leaving him severely injured.

Official sources said that injured was taken to a nearby hospital at Qazigund from where the doctors referred him to GMC Anantnag for advanced treatment.

When contacted, SHO Qazigund told GNS that a police team visited the spot and assessed the situation.
