Shocking | Only 16 percent Govt schools have one teacher for teaching through computer in J-K

(Asian News Hub) – In Jammu and Kashmir only 16 percent of government schools have at least one teacher trained in use of computer and teaching through computer by different school category and management.

The official figures accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveal that only 4552 schools in Jammu and Kashmir excluding Leh, Ladakh and Kargil were having at least one teacher trained in use of computers and teaching through computers by School Category and Management.

According to the latest figures maintained by the Department of School Education Department and Literacy, the highest number of trained teachers in computer use of computers was in the department of education wherein a total number of 2693 such school teachers were registered.

The figures reveal that in recognized private unaided schools were having 1781 trained teachers in use of computer and teaching through computer followed by 35 teachers in Kendriya Vidyalaya, 14 each in recognized Madrasa and unrecognized schools, 12 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, two in unrecognized Madrasa’s and one in government aided schools.

According to the official figures, a total of nearly 28,000 government and recognized private schools were functional in Jammu and Kashmir.

The official told KNO that there were nearly 1.2 lakh teachers working in the department across Jammu and Kashmir out of which nearly 65 thousand teachers were posted in Kashmir region only.

“A total of nearly 23,000 government schools are functional in Jammu and Kashmir,” the official said.
