Kidnapped girl recovered within 24 hours, accused held in Sopore: Police

(Asian News Hub) – Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have recovered a kidnapped girl within 24 hours and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime in Sopore area of north Kashmir.

A police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that on 23-01-2022, Police Station Dangiwacha received a complaint from one person stating therein that his sister (Name withheld) has been kidnapped by Ishfaq Ahmad War, son of Abdul Ahad War of Haril Qaziabad Handwara.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 06/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police station Dangiwacha and investigation was set into motion.

“During the course of investigation, officers investigating the case, utilizing all available means and with strenuous efforts, specific information was generated due to which the team was able to arrest the kidnapper and recovered the kidnapped girl within 20 hours after the complaint was received.”

Police said that after fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs while further investigation into the matter is in progress.

Meanwhile, police said that swift action against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals. “Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood. They can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue,” police said.
