(Asian News Hub) – As the security forces on Sunday got a tip off about the presence militants in Check Sidiq area of Shopian, they laid a siege in the area, and while the joint forces were approaching towards the suspected spot, the militants hiding there fired upon them, triggering a gunfight.
Official sources confirmed to –Asian News Hub that the joint teams of forces including Army, CRPF and J&K police laid a siege, following a tip-off about the presence of militants in Check Sidiq area of Shopian.
They said that as the forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, the militants hiding in the area fired at them, triggering an encounter.
The initial reports as per the sources suggest that 2 militants are believed to be trapped and are under the forces siege, while more cordon layers have been laid around the area to ensure hiding militants do not escape.
