71 J&K Police Officials are among the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished, Meritorious Services and Police Medal for Gallantry awardees

DGP congratulates awardees

Jammu, Jan 25: Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI today announced Medals of different categories on the eve of 72th Republic Day. Seventy One J&K Police personnel are among the awardees of the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service and Police Medal for Gallantry. This includes 52 Police Medal for Gallantry, two President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services and 17 Police Medal for Meritorious Services.

Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh has congratulated the awardees and their families. In his message, he has said that the awards show the exemplary courage and dedication shown by police personnel in different fields for the nation. He has wished them more success and recognition in future.

President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services have been awarded to ADGP Dr. S. D. Singh Jamwal and ADGP Shri T. Namgyal while Police Medal for Meritorious Service have been awarded to SSP Shri Shakti Pathak, SSP Javid Ahmad Koul, SSP Shahid Mehraj Rather, SSP Dr. Ajeet Singh, SSP Shri Altaf Ahmad Khan, SSP Shri Rajeshwar Singh, SSP Shri Sandeep Wazir, SSP Smt Anita Sharma, SSP Shri Baqar Samoon, SSP Shri Rajesh Kumar Sharma, SSP Shri Shamsher Hussain, SSP Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal, DySP Shri Sunmati Gupta, SI Shri Rishi Kumar, SI (M) Shri Manzoor Ahmad Rather, HC Shri Parshotam Dass Sharma and HC Shri Gulzar Ahmed.

‘Militant associate’ arrested in Kupwara; 10 grenades, 182 bullets recovered

(Asian News Hub) – Army and police have recovered ten grenades and 182 rounds of Ak-47 rifle from a militant associate who was arrested in Kralpora area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, official sources said on Tuesday.

They said army 160 Territorial Army and SOG Kralpora arrested the “militant associate” Abdul Ahad Lone based on specific information. “10 grenades and 182 Ak-47 rounds” have been recovered from his possession.They said middle-aged man was associated with Al-Badr formerly.

A police officer confirmed the arrest and said that further investigations are underway.

Three unidentified militants killed in Anantnag

(Asian News Hub) – Three unidentified militants have been killed in an encounter that raged between government forces and militants in Vailoo area of Kokernag belt in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.

A senior police officer told that three unidentified militants have been killed whose identification is being ascertained while as operation is on in the area.

He said the militants turned down repeated surrender offers given to them by government forces.

Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 19 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

Pertinently, 46 militants have been killed in J&K so far this year and most of them belong to Shopian district.
