According to reports, the 25-year-old learned that she is intersex when she went to a hospital seeking treatment for her injured ankle. During the checkup, it was revealed that her bone had not developed since her adolescence.

The woman, whose name has been changed to Pingping to protect her identity, told doctors that she had never gotten her periods and failed to get pregnant after trying for over a year.

Following this, she was told to undergo several tests at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

The series of examinations showed that Pingping had no uterus or ovaries. She was found to have males’ Y chromosome.

According to doctors, Pingping had a rare condition called the 46 XY, a pattern that is normally found in males who have genitalia that is not clearly male or female. As per the doctors, this congenital disease might be the result of her parents’ intermarriage between relatives.

Pingping has reportedly been told by doctors to consult with mental health specialists for the direction of her future life.
