Srinagar, Mar 29: Shahr-e-Khaas Traders and Chambers have filed a formal complaint with the SSP Srinagar against deceptive and misleading sales practices by certain YouTubers.
In their complaint, the traders accused YouTubers of making false claims about product efficacy, promoting staged demonstrations, and failing to disclose paid promotions and affiliate links. They also highlighted that some YouTubers are falsely claiming that high-value items worth thousands are being sold for just a few hundred rupees, misleading consumers.
The traders further pointed out the use of artificial scarcity tactics, lack of proper disclaimers, and promotion of potentially harmful products, which they say undermine consumer trust and violate consumer protection laws.

They urged authorities to enforce strict advertising standards, hold YouTubers accountable for misleading claims, and establish a clear process for consumers to report false advertising practices.
