Srinagar, Feb 24: The Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory warning of an active Western Disturbance that is expected to bring widespread moderate rain and snowfall to Jammu & Kashmir from the evening of February 25 to February 28.
According to an advisory, a copy of which lies with ANH, light to moderate rain and snow will begin in North and Central Kashmir on February 25 evening, gradually intensifying on February 27 and 28 before subsiding. The system is likely to bring heavy snowfall in middle and upper reaches of Kashmir, including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Shopian, Qazigund-Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, and parts of South Kashmir and the Chenab Valley.

Transportation Disruptions: The weather system may affect surface and air transport, particularly along key routes such as Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, Razdan Pass, Sinthan Top, Mughal Road, and Sonamarg-Zojila axis. Travelers and transporters have been urged to plan accordingly.
Tourism & General Caution: Tourists and locals are advised to remain cautious, as middle and higher reaches of Kashmir and hilly areas of Jammu are likely to experience moderate to heavy snowfall.
Farmers Alert: Farmers have been advised to suspend irrigation and other farm-related activities during this period.
Temperature Drop: A significant fall in daytime temperatures is expected across the region.
