Bandipora, Jan 04: Four soldiers lost their lives, and two others were critically injured in an accident in Bandipora district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday .
Officials said the accident took place in the SK Payeen area of the district when an army vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge
The injured personnel were immediately evacuated to a local hospital and later referred to to Srinagar for advanced treatment.

An official said that a rescue operation was immediately launched after the accident took place.
MS Bandipora hospital, Dr Masarat said six of the five army personnel injured in the accident were brought to the facility. “Two of them were declared dead on arrival,” he said.
“Three injured were referred to a hospital in Srinagar. However, two of them, who was critically injured, died, taking the toll to four”, the official added.
