Srinagar, Jan 05: A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the Pandrethan area of Srinagar, where a family of five, including a father, mother, and their three children, tragically lost their lives due to suffocation.
According to initial reports, the family was found unconscious inside their rented accommodation in Pandrethan area of Srinagar outskirts. Neighbors alerted authorities after noticing no movement from the household.
Emergency teams and police rushed to the spot, but all five were declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of death to be suffocation, likely due to a malfunctioning heating system. With the harsh winter gripping the Valley, families often rely on heating appliances, which, if improperly ventilated, can emit toxic fumes like carbon monoxide.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
The deceased have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool, Saleema, wife of Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, 03-year-old Areeb (son), 18 months old Hamza (son), and a 28 days old baby girl, all resident of Gingal Uri district Baramulla.
Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident.
