Kulgam, Dec 08: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today conducted a surprise inspection of District Hospital Kulgam to assess the medical care services being provided at the facility and suspended three doctors for dereliction of duties.
During her visit, the Minister inspected various sections of the hospital, including the emergency unit, surgical ward, general wards, and other facilities. She interacted with hospital staff, took a detailed appraisal of the services, and assured them of improved staffing levels and strengthened infrastructure to meet the needs of the people.
However, during the inspection, the Minister found three doctors absent from their duties and immediately suspended them for dereliction of responsibility. Taking a strong stance, she emphasized that absenteeism and neglect of duties would not be tolerated, urging healthcare professionals to uphold their commitment to patient welfare.

The Minister also interacted with patients and their attendants, gathering feedback about the medical services. She reiterated the Omar Abdullah-led government’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare services and assured that the hospital’s facilities and infrastructure would be upgraded to minimize the need for patients to seek treatment outside the district.
