Sopore, Nov 21: Sopore Police have solved a hit-and-run case involving the death of a local doctor from Upper Ashpeer by arresting the accused driver.
In a media statement, a police spokesman said that on 05/11/2024, Sopore Police received information about a pedestrian, Dr. Azhar Hassan Janwari from Upper Ashpeer, Sopore, being critically injured in a hit-and-run incident involving an unidentified motorcyclist.
An FIR (No. 233/2024) was registered, and an investigation was launched.

He said, Dr. Janwari, initially treated at SDH Sopore, was later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced care but tragically succumbed to his injuries on 18/11/2024.
Through extensive efforts and the use of technical means, police identified the accused as Nadeem Hameed Badam, also from Upper Ashpeer, Sopore. He confessed to recklessly hitting the victim with his scooty (JK05H-4292) and fleeing the scene without reporting the incident, he said.
The accused has been arrested, and the vehicle seized. Section 106(2) has been added to the case, and further investigations are ongoing, the spokesman added.
