Baramulla, Aug 10: Police in Baramulla have cracked a blind murder case by arresting four persons including two women involved in commission of crime.
In a media statement, a police spokesman said that on August 2, 2024, Police Post Palhallan received an information about an unknown dead body found under the Khambiyar-Andergam bridge. The body was later identified as that of Nasir Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Pousnag Kreeri.
He said, police team led by SDPO Pattan DSP Shahjahan assisted by SHO Pattan Insp Mohd Shafi and DO Palhalan SI Raees, carried out a sustained interrogation, examination of evidences and analysis of technical data and succeeded in identifying four accused namely Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Ganie, son of Late Gh Nabi, Fatima Begum, wife of Gh Mohi-ud-din Ganie, Rubeena Bano, daughter of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Ganie, and Aadil Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Mohi-ud-din all residents of Gundbal Pattan, District Baramulla.

The investigation revealed that the accused hatched a conspiracy to kill the deceased on August 1, 2024. They strangulated him to death using a dupatta and later disposed off the body under the bridge, he said.
He said accused have been arrested and are currently under police custody. The police team has also recovered the weapon of offense (dupatta) and other vital evidence.
Further investigation is under process in the instant case, the spokesman added.
