Srinagar, Aug 08: Khatija Begum, maternal grandmother of Global News Service (GNS) Shopian correspondent, has passed away on Thursday. She was 77.
Begum, as per a family member was not keeping well for over a period of time and eventually left for heavenly abode at her native residence Chittragam Kalan in Shopian today.
Many people cutting across different walks of life have condoled the demise of Khatija Begum and have extended their sympathies to the bereaved family, especially to Umer Rashid.

The GNS team in the meantime also held a prayer meeting and invoked mercy of Almighty Allah upon the departed soul and prayed for forbearance to the entire bereaved family.
