Srinagar, Aug 21: Engineer Rashid, the recently elected Member of Parliament from Baramulla, has submitted a regular bail application in Delhi’s Patiala House Court. Rashid was arrested in connection with a 2017 Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case.

The court has issued a notice to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) regarding Rashid’s plea, signaling a critical juncture in the ongoing legal proceedings. The hearing for this bail application is scheduled for August 28, where the NIA is expected to present its stance on the matter.

Rashid’s legal battle comes at a time when his political career is gaining momentum. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he achieved a significant victory in the Baramulla constituency, defeating former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. As the legal process unfolds, Rashid’s bail application will be closely watched, not only for its legal implications but also for its potential impact on his political trajectory.
