Srinagar, June 10: An unidentified dead body was recovered from the River Jhelum at Purantang Khawajabagh Maloora area of Srinagar outskirts this afternoon. The body has now been identified as Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh, also known as Shakir, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, reports said.
Reports said that Shakeel, originally from Khag Sugan, District Budgam, had been residing at Awanti Bhawan, Soura, Srinagar. He had been missing for the last three days from his shop at Awanti Bhawan, Soura.

Locals had spotted the body floating in river jhelum in maloora this afternoon and alerted the police, who promptly reached the scene and took the body into custody.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and have initiated an investigation.
