Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Vipul, a 4th Semester student from the 2022 batch (BMECH115), met with an accident near Foreshore road on 28th March. The deceased fought for his life at SKIMS Soura for many days but unfortunately lost his battle on Wednesday.

The entire NIT Srinagar community including teaching, non teaching staff, students and scholars, led by Director Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, gathered at the Fountain Park for a condolence meeting. A two-minute silence was observed, and prayers were offered for the departed soul.

Describing Vipul Tyagi’s passing as both untimely and sorrowful, Director expressed his profound grief and prayed for peace and mercy for the departed soul. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying for them to find the strength and forbearance to cope with the loss.

“During this difficult period, may the family find the strength and resilience needed to navigate through the profound grief. NIT Srinagar stands united with them in this time of sorrow,” Prof. Nath said.

“We are all aware of the rights and duties bestowed upon us by the constitution. While we often assert our rights, we must also remember our duties and responsibilities. When students are away from home, they must be more cautious and adhere to local advisories. Let us all learn from this tragic incident and cultivate self-discipline. His loss is an irreparable one for the Institute,” he said.

In his message, Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Aatikur Rehman, expressed deep sorrow and offered heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Vipul Tyagi.

He mentioned that Vipul had been under treatment at SKIMS Soura for the past four days, and the NIT Srinagar administration had provided every possible support to the family, emphasizing that his passing is a collective loss.

“Vipul’s absence is deeply felt by all of us at NIT Srinagar. We extend our support to his family and friends, offering strength and solace as they navigate through this challenging period of grief. May his soul rest in peace,” Prof. Rehman said.
