Sopore, March 21: Continuing its drive against social crimes, jammu and kashmir police have arrested three gamblers in Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued to Asian News Hub, a police spokesman said, acting on specific information about gambling activities in the orchards of village Reban, a police party headed by Incharge PP Fruit Mandi under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS raided the specific spot and arrested the 03 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Mohammad Akbar Sheikh son of Abdullah Sheikh resident of Hadipora, Sajad Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Kabir resident of Parrypora Hadipora and Bashir Ahmad Tantray son of Mohammad Subhan Tantray resident of Reban.
He said, officers have seized stake money of ₹7160/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 54/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been taken up, he said.
People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units, the spokesman added.
