Shopian, Feb 5: Under the operation “Drug Free Shopian,” Shopian police, under the supervision of SSP Tanushree, have arrested a drug peddler and recovered heroin like substance from his possession.
In a statement to Asian News Hub, a police spokesman said that during Naka checking at Fruit Mandi Aglar, Shopian police halted a Swift car with registration No JK04H-9612 for inspection. Officers conducting the search discovered 700 grams of a substance resembling heroin (valued at crores of rupees in the international market) in the vehicle.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Rasheed Lone son of Ghulam Hassan Lone, a resident of Sarepora Budan Sopore.

He said, a case vide FIR No.23/2024 U/S 8/21 of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Shopian and investigation has been set into motion.
Moreover accused has been arrested in the instant Case and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman added.
