Srinagar, Feb 19: An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter Scale hit Kargil area of Ladakh on Monday evening, the National Centre for Seismology said.

They said, the earthquake occurred at around 09:35 pm at a depth of 10 km.

The epicentre of the earthquake was found to be at latitude 35.45 and longitude 74.94, as per NCS.

Tremors were also felt in many parts of Kashmir, reports said.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:5.2, Occurred on 19-02-2024, 21:35:17 IST, Lat: 35.45 & Long: 74.93, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 148km NW of Kargil, Laddakh, India,” National Centre for Seismology said on its official X handle.
