Two Kashmiri journalists, Irshad Hussain and Shahid Tantray, hailing from Srinagar, have been named as finalists in the Best Text Reporting category for the 2023 Human Rights and Religious Freedom Journalism Awards, which are presented by the Indian American Muslim Council, Kashmiriyat.co.uk reported.

The Human Rights & Religious Freedom Journalism Awards is an initiative by the Indian American Muslim Council. This Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group, committed to preserving India’s pluralistic and tolerant values, unveiled the award winners during the IAMC National Convention 2023 held in Dallas, Texas.
Exceptional reporting on subjects like the systematic targeting of religious minorities, the Hijab ban, and the weaponization of technology against Muslim women received the highest recognition at the award ceremony on Saturday, October 14.
