On Monday, IPS officer Arun Bothra posted a picture of numerous Indian banknotes on X (previously Twitter). In the article, he claimed that the cash was stashed in the answers of students who had “requested” and “bribed” the board examiner to award them “passing marks” in the tests.

By posting the image, Bothra brought attention to another issue that students in India frequently face: getting passing grades.
An image of Rs. 100, Rs. 200, and Rs. 500 notes that students had taped between the pages of their answer sheets was included in the blog article. Bothra captioned the photo, “Pic sent by a teacher. These notes were kept inside answer sheets of a board exam by students with request to give them passing marks.
It “tells a lot about our students, teachers, and the entire educational system,” he concluded.
