Man bites, chews off wife’s finger; arrested

A domestic violence case has been filed against a Bengaluru man for allegedly biting off and chewing his wife’s finger during an argument, India Today reported.

The man was arrested for allegedly biting off and chewing his wife’s finger during a fight. An FIR has been filed for domestic violence against the man.

The accused, Vijay Kumar, had also allegedly threatened to kill his wife.

Vijay and his wife Pushpa have been married for 23 years. Due to frequent fights and misunderstandings, he had been living separately in another house with their son.

This incident came to light when Pushpa filed a complaint against her husband at Konanakunte police station. According to Pushpa’s account, on July 28, around 4 pm, Vijay Kumar visited her rented house and they had an argument.

In the heat of the argument, he bit Pushpa’s left index finger and even attempted to swallow it.

An FIR has been registered against Vijay Kumar under sections 498A (subjecting married woman to cruelty), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 504 (Insult intended to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (criminal Intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. However, the court has granted him bail.
