National Conference (NC) president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar constituency, Dr Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said that if peace prevails in Jammu & Kashmir, then why the elections are being delayed in the Union Territory. He also said that there was no dynasty rule in J&K, but it is the people, who elect their representatives.
Talking exclusively with Asian News Hub (ANH), Dr Farooq said that the Gupkar alliance is still alive and is even stronger at the present. “It is not imperative to hold meetings to show the presence, but the conglomerate is still active and even more stronger than the past,” he said.
He further said that the government is claiming that there is peace in J&K and the militancy is in its last leg, but the recent situation Rajouri, Poonch and other areas is indicating that how much peace prevails in the UT.
About allegations of dynasty rule, he said that it is not dynasty but the people who elect their representatives.

Furthermore, he said that the elections are being delayed despite the claims that the peace prevails in J&K. “If the peace prevails then why the elections are being delayed. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hesitate to conduct the elections,” he said.
Also, Dr Farooq complemented the people of Karnataka and Congress leadership and its workers for the win in the assembly polls, saying that the results of the polls are clear indication that it was not a ‘Khandan Jodo Yatra’ but ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ that was taken out by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
