Two young girls in Budgam felicitated for memorizing Qur’an

Two young girls from central Kashmir’s Budgam district were felicitated by their seminary authorities and locals for memorizing the entire Qur’an. The girls belong to the Kaisermulla area of Chadoora in Budgam.

As per the news agency—KNO, Tabassum Gul, daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a final year student; and Urfi Farooq, daughter of Farooq Ahmad Dar, a 12th-class student; achieved the feat under the guidance of their teacher for nearly two years.

According to their parents, the girls would visit the Darsgah (Islamic seminary) for one to two hours a day and wholeheartedly memorize the Qur’an over a period of nearly two years.

“It is important for everyone to seek Islamic knowledge as well because we have to leave this world one day and we should acquire what we actually need to take with us,” Tabassum told KNO.

She said that apart from attending college, she used to go to Darsgah every day to learn about Islam and memorize the Qur’an. “I thank Allah for giving me the potential to finally memories the Qur’an Shareef,” she said.

The Darsgah has been widely appreciated for its role in shaping the lives of young girls and providing them with valuable guidance and religious education.

The locals have expressed their admiration for the achievement of these girls and hailed their dedication and hard work required to memorize the entire Qur’an. “Both these girls proved that nothing is impossible,” said a local.

‘’Tabassum and Urfi’s success acts as motivation for others and emphasizes the value of commitment in achieving the goal(s). Their accomplishment is proof that Darsgah and other religious institutions play an important role in rightly guiding young people,” another local said.

Darsgah Instructor Waseem Ahmad while talking to KNO said, “I am pleased that my students have done it, and I thank Almighty Allah for blessing me by assigning me to lead them. I currently teach 150 students for almost an hour every day, and some of them are also memorizing the Qur’an.”

“We should focus on our religion in order to prepare for Aakhirat while keeping in mind that this life is transient. It is the responsibility of every Muslim to learn and understand the Qur’an; hence the parents must send their children to Darsgah,” he stressed.

Man dies as tractor turns turtle in Sopore

A man lost his life on Sunday morning as tractor turned turtle in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramula district.

Quoting an official news agency KS reported that a man was critically injured on Sunday morning after a tractor in which he was travelling turned turtle at Badambagh.

He said soon after the incident, he was immediately taken to Sub District Hospital Sopore, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

A police officer confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Farooz Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Hamid Bhat resident of Badambagh.

Srinagar police on Saturday said to have arrested a Srinagar Municpal Corporation (SMC) Corporator for sexual harassment, outraging modesty and online stalking.

They said strong technical evidences in this matter were produced by the brave victim, the accused has been identified as Aqib Ahmed Renzu resident of Nishat Srinagar.

Case under FIR No 50/2023 U/S 354, 354A, 354D registered in RM Bagh Police station.

Srinagar police on X informed, “One SMC corporator Aqib Ahmed Renzu of Nishat Srinagar arrested for sexual harassment, outraging modesty and online stalking. Strong technical evidences in this matter were produced by the brave victim. FIR No 50/2023 U/S 354, 354A, 354D registered in RM Bagh Police station.”

Man slips to death while collecting firewood in central Kashmir

A man died after he slipped while collecting firewood in Rezan forest area in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday.

An official told that Showkat Ahmad Tekri, son of Gh Hassan Tekri of Gujerbasti Rezan slipped and fell down from the upper reaches of the forest area, which resulted in his on spot death.

The heavy rainfall had triggered slippery conditions in the area.

He said that soon after the incident, police reached the spot and recovered his body.

“After medico-legal formalities, his body will be handed over to her family members for the last rites,” he said. KNO
