India secures biggest win against Pakistan by 228 runs
The perfect game for Team India!! After heartbreak in two ‘reserve day’ games in the past, they have absolutely pummeled their opponents today.
With the help Kuldeep Yadav’s 5 wickets, India defeated Pakistan by 228 runs. The victory is dubbed as the biggest victory of India against their arch rivals Pakistan. Virat Kohli (122) and KL Rahul (111) helped Team India to put a big score of 356 on the scoreboard and Pakistan just collapsed chasing the high score.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul led India’s innings to a massive score of 356 against Pakistan. After a good opening partnership, Virat Kohli (122) and KL Rahul (111) punished Pakistan bowlers to score the highest runs against Pakistan in ODI cricket.
Heath Streak, former Zimbabwe captain passes away
Heath Streak, a former captain of Zimbabwe, passed suddenly early on Sunday at his Matabeleland property. He was 49.
John Rennie, a former Zimbabwe international and the spokesperson for the family, confirmed the development to Sportstar. “He passed away in the early hours of the morning at his farm at Matabeleland. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones. He died peacefully after a long fight with cancer…” Rennie said.
One of the biggest names of Zimbabwe cricket, Streak was handed an eight-year-ban by the International Cricket Council in 2021 for breaching the anti-corruption code in 2018.
One of Zimbabwe’s greatest cricketers, Streak ended with 216 wickets in Tests and 239 in ODIs and after moving on from international cricket, he coached several international sidse – including Zimbabwe, Bangladesh – and quite a few Indian Premier League outfits like Kolkata Knight Riders and the now-defunct Rajkot franchise.
Asia Cup: India vs Pakistan match abandoned mid-innings due to rains
The Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Saturday was called off due to persistent rain. No play was possible after India made 266 in 48.5 overs.
At 9 PM IST, it seemed as if Pakistan would begin their run chase but before umpires got back to captains, the rain returned again. Then after an hour, the umpires decided to shook hands given the cut-off time for 20-over was 10:27 PM and groundsmen would have took 45-mins to ready the ground after the rain would have stopped.
Now Pakistan have three points in two of their Group A matches while India have one. India will next play Nepal on Monday (September 4) at the same venue.
Earlier, the wonderful rescue act of Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan helped India overcome a fiery opening spell from Shaheen Shah Afridi to post a healthy 266 against Pakistan. Kishan (82 off 81 balls) and Pandya (87 off 90 balls) kept Pakistan bowlers at bay with a 138-run fifth wicket stand off 141 balls to give their side a fine chance to make a winning start to the tournament.
