Srinagar, Jul 25: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrests Mushtaq Ahmad Mir Junior Assistant & Khalida Tugoo, orderly of tehsil office Baramulla, for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 4000.
In a statement issued here, Anti Corruption Bureau received a complaint against Mushtaq Ahmad Mir posted in tehsil office Baramulla for allegedly demanding bribe of Rs 4000 from complainant for settling his case pending disposal with Tehsil office Baramulla etc.

It was found that a case was filed by Police Station Baramulla against complainant and other under sec 109 CrPC with tehsil office Baramulla on 05-08-2021 which was pending disposal with tehsil office and for which the Junior Assistant posted in the tehsil office Baramulla namely Mushtaq Ahmad Mir who was handling the case file demanded bribe of Rs 4000 from complainant through orderly Khalida Tugoo posted in the same office. Under these circumstances the complainant approached the ACB and requested for taking necessary legal action against the accused Public servant.
Accordingly on receipt of the complaint which prima facie disclosed commission of offences under U/s 7 of the P.C Act 1988 (as amended in 2018), a case FIR No 21/2022 was registered at PS ACB Baramulla and investigation started. Immediately after registration of the case, a trap team headed by DySP rank officer and independent witnesses was constituted. The team caught the accused Khalida Tugoo red handed while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant on behalf of the main accused Mushtaq Ahmad Mir.

Later on both of them found involved in demanding and accepting bribe from complainant and were arrested in the case after completing all legal formalities for further questioning and ascertaining the role of each of them and of any other officer in the case. Searches were also conducted at the residence of the accused. Further investigations are going on, reads the statement.

“Pursuant to the declaration of Winter Vacation for students w.e.f 30.11.2023 vide Order No. 60 of 2023 issued under endorsement number NITS/R/23/600 dated 30.11.2023 all hostel boarders (Boys and Girls) are instructed to vacate the hostels with immediate effect”, reads a circular.
The Vegetable market (Sabzi Mandi) in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was Thursday gutted in a massive blaze, officials said.
An official said that the fire broke out in the wee hours today, left about 10 vegetable carts gutted in the incident, adding that vegetables worth huge amount got damaged in the incident.

The mercury in Qazigund settled at 5.0 degree Celsius while in Pahalgam it settled at 1.5 degree Celsius.
According to data, Konibal and Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 1.0 degree Celsius each.
