After surviving miraculously, baby girl from Banihal dies at G B Pant hospital

Srinagar, May 25 (ANH): A baby girl from Banihal, who survived miraculously two days back, died at GB Pant hospital in Srinagar.

The girl was declared dead at Sub District Hospital Banihal, however, the locals found her alive during burial in the area.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the baby girl was rushed to Srinagar’s GB Pant hospital where she was undergoing treatment.

Basharat Hussain, father of the baby said that the baby girl has died in the wee hours today at the hospital.

Medical Superintendent of GB Pant, Dr Nazir Choudhary, said that the baby died today. “The baby was brought to the hospital due to low birth weight and respiratory distress,” he said.

Pertinently, the alleged negligence at SDH sparked protests by the relatives of the girl against the medical staff, prompting the block medical officer to suspend two employees posted at the labour room, and order a probe.

Director Health Services, Jammu, Saleem-ur-Rehman took the incident seriously and constituted a four-member committee and asked it to submit its report within two days.

Teenage boy dies in Anantnag road accident

A teenage boy died in a road accident in Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday evening.

Reports said that a teenage boy identified as Kausar Ahmad Bhat resident of Sangam was critically injured after he was hit by unknown vehicle in Chadsoo Sangam.

They said he was rushed to GMC Anantnag for treatment, where he was referred to SMHS hospital for specialised treatment. However, he was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.

Online classes in all Degree Colleges of Kashmir region from Dec-01

With the early onset of winters, Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department Thursday ordered that it will conduct online classes in all government degree colleges of Kashmir region from Dec-01-2023.

Special Secretary to the government Dr Ravi Shanker Sharma in a communique said, “Due to early onset of winter, students enrolled in Government Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division are facing major challenge in commuting to college and, thereby, attending classes.”

“Situation has got compounded due to disruption to normal class work with inadequate heating arrangements,” it reads.

The communique further states that with the implementation of admission based on merit and choice, students have to travel distances or stay in Hostel or stay in private accommodations which has put them to severe hardship due to early onset of harsh winter.

Ir reads, “In order to ensure unhindered academic delivery in adverse and extreme cold conditions, it is impressed upon all the Principals of Government Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division that classes will be conducted via online mode w.e.f. December-01-2023 till December-31-2023 or till winter vacations are announced, whichever is earlier.”

“Further, Principals of Govt. Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division are directed to ensure that the faculty will attend their respective colleges regularly and take their classes online from the colleges in order to complete the syllabus as per academic calendar,” the official said.

It also said that all internal examinations and semester-end examinations will be conducted as per notified schedule of universities or institutions.
