Encounter breaks out in Shopian

(Asian News Hub) – An encounter broke out between militants and the government forces in Dangam village of Harmain belt in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, an official said on Saturday evening.

An official told the news agency—KNO, that a joint team of Police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants.

Meanwhile, sources said that one to two militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

DC Kulgam expresses grief over death of six Kulgam residents in Shimla

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat expressed grief over deaths of Kulgam residents in a road accident at Shimla.

He said the District Administration Kulgam is in touch with Shimla Administration for transportation of last remains of all the deceased to their native villages.

It was informed that six workers from Kulgam district died, and as many were injured in a road accident in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh  today on Monday morning at 7am when a vehicle, they were travelling in, fell into a gorge in Sunny Kangal Kararghat.

The deceased have been identified as Fareed Ahmad Deedar, (24), Gulam Hussain Gorsi (43), Shabir Ahmad Deedar,  (19), Talib Hussain Tinda (23), Gulzar Ahmad Deedar (30), and Mushtaq Ahmad Dedar (30)—all residents of Kulgam District.

The injured persons identified as Manzoor Ahmed S/O Bashir Ahmed Denda 20, Talib Hussain S/O Ab Gani Denda 23 both from Kulgam; Aslam S/O Ismail Deeded 24 from Anantnag and other injured are currently under treatment at the Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital (IGMCH).

HCoI invites online application for Hajj-2024

The Haj Committee of India has invited Online Haj Application Forms for all the aspirants who intend to undertake Hajj journey 1445(H)—2024(CE).

The Haj application forms shall be available w.e.f 04/12/2023 and the last date for submission of the same has been fixed as 20th December, 2023.

Before filing the application form online, the concerned Haj aspirants are hereby requested to go through Haj Policy available at Haj Committee website www.hajcommittee.gov.in.

Six Kulgam workers dead as many injured in Shimla road accident

At least six workers from south Kashmir’s Kulgam district died, and as many were injured in a road accident in Shima district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday morning, police said.

Superintendent of Police Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that six people have died when a truck, they were travelling in, fell into a gorge in Kararghat.

He said three persons died on the spot while others died at a hospital. “Six others were also injured are currently under treatment at the Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital (IGMCH),” he said.
