Scrapping of scheme has lead our families on the verge of starvation: SHG

(Asian News Hub) – Self Help Group of Engineers Wednesday said that there scrapping of scheme has left hundreds of families towards starvation.

The SHG demanded restoration of the scheme which was scrapped on 10-08-2020 by the Government.

The scheme was launched way back in 2003 in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir by then State Government for the un-employed technocrats of all streams and was given as alternative to the Government Job.

According to News Agency – KNO President SHG Syed Parvez while addressing the media said, ” Scrapping of the Scheme has lead thousands of Engineers heart broken, we were not burden on state ex-chequer, we were ‘Aatmi Nirbar’ and were generating the avenues of revenue of others who were working with Self Help Groups.”

In a statement issued to media the SHG said, ” We fail to understand why the Government wants to push the whole Un-employed youth of J&K to beg on the roads, what is our fault why the state Administration snatched this self employment (ATMNIRBAR) scheme to we people.”

Pertinently the SHG has protested many times in the past for revocation of the order of scrapping the scheme.

“We have also raised our issues with the Parliamentarian Standing Committee who recently visited the Kashmir valley, they also have assured us that we will take your genuine issue with the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor”, read the statement.

The SHG while addressing the media said, disbanding of the scheme has lead their families on the verge of starvation and there are no other means of to earn their livelihood as most of the technocrats have crossed their age limit to get any other job.

The Self Help Group of Engineers during their presser appealed the LG Manoj Sinha to restore this innovative ATMNIRBAR scheme as early as possible.

Man dies as tractor turns turtle in Sopore

A man lost his life on Sunday morning as tractor turned turtle in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramula district.

Quoting an official news agency KS reported that a man was critically injured on Sunday morning after a tractor in which he was travelling turned turtle at Badambagh.

He said soon after the incident, he was immediately taken to Sub District Hospital Sopore, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

A police officer confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Farooz Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Hamid Bhat resident of Badambagh.

SMC Corporator Aqib Renzu in custody on charges of sexual harassment

Srinagar police on Saturday said to have arrested a Srinagar Municpal Corporation (SMC) Corporator for sexual harassment, outraging modesty and online stalking.

They said strong technical evidences in this matter were produced by the brave victim, the accused has been identified as Aqib Ahmed Renzu resident of Nishat Srinagar.

Case under FIR No 50/2023 U/S 354, 354A, 354D registered in RM Bagh Police station.

Srinagar police on X informed, “One SMC corporator Aqib Ahmed Renzu of Nishat Srinagar arrested for sexual harassment, outraging modesty and online stalking. Strong technical evidences in this matter were produced by the brave victim. FIR No 50/2023 U/S 354, 354A, 354D registered in RM Bagh Police station.”

Man slips to death while collecting firewood in central Kashmir

A man died after he slipped while collecting firewood in Rezan forest area in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday.

An official told that Showkat Ahmad Tekri, son of Gh Hassan Tekri of Gujerbasti Rezan slipped and fell down from the upper reaches of the forest area, which resulted in his on spot death.

The heavy rainfall had triggered slippery conditions in the area.

He said that soon after the incident, police reached the spot and recovered his body.

“After medico-legal formalities, his body will be handed over to her family members for the last rites,” he said. KNO
