Police, security forces working professionally to eliminate threats to peace: DGP, J&K

Inaugurates Building for police post Ahamednagar, additional accommodation at Cargo, Srinagar

(Asian News Hub) – Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Dilbag Singh who is on three day tour to Kashmir Today inaugurated newly constructed building of Ahmednagar Police Post and also visited Police Component Srinagar where he inaugurated newly constructed two storied building, an additional accommodation for Jawans and also interacted with Police officers and Jawans.

Accompanied by IGP Kashmir Zone, Shri Vijay Kumar, the DGP first visited Police Post Ahmadnagar in territorial jurisdiction of Police Station Soura in Srinagar where he inaugurated the newly constructed building and also reviewed crime situation within the jurisdiction of the Police Post. 

The Police Post building consists of DOs office, MHC office, separate room for CCTNS Lab, accommodation for Jawans, Malkhana, Lockup and additional facility of washrooms. The Police Post Ahmadnagar has been created to address the crime in Anchar area of Srinagar District.

IG Kashmir shri vijay KUMAR, DIG Central Kashmir, Shri Amit Kumar, SSP Srinagar Dr. Haseeb Mughal, SP South City Hazratbal Srinagar, Shri Sudanshu Verma, SP Headquarters Srinagar, Shri Mohammad Majid, DySP DAR, Shri Feroz Qadri and other officers were present on the occasion.  

The DGP later visited Police Component Srinagar were he inaugurated additional accommodation for Jawans. The accommodation will house around 50 personnel of the component. He also interacted with the officers and Jawans on the occasion. 

While interacting with the jawans and officers, the DGP appreciated J&K Police and other security agencies for maintaining pressure on the elements inimical to peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He said with the coordinated efforts of forces the militant activities have been restricted and action against them has been intensified.

The DGP lauded the role of Jammu Kashmir Police officers and jawans for tackling difficult situations effectively. He said that despite many challenges, personnel of police and other security forces are working professionally to eliminate threats to peace from Pakistan and its sponsored militant outfits and subversive agencies. He added that we have to continue hard work to ensure long lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The DGP asked the officers to submit the requirements to the PHQ and added that Police Headquarter is committed to equip our Jawans with better facilities to meet out any challenge.

He later participated in Bada Khana with the Jawans and officers of Counter Insurgency Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The DGP also visited Zakoora, Sringar where he inspected the prefabricated accommodation used during the elections and Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra. He directed for building additional accommodation at the site.

Man dies as tractor turns turtle in Sopore

A man lost his life on Sunday morning as tractor turned turtle in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramula district.

Quoting an official news agency KS reported that a man was critically injured on Sunday morning after a tractor in which he was travelling turned turtle at Badambagh.

He said soon after the incident, he was immediately taken to Sub District Hospital Sopore, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

A police officer confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Farooz Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Hamid Bhat resident of Badambagh.

SMC Corporator Aqib Renzu in custody on charges of sexual harassment

Srinagar police on Saturday said to have arrested a Srinagar Municpal Corporation (SMC) Corporator for sexual harassment, outraging modesty and online stalking.

They said strong technical evidences in this matter were produced by the brave victim, the accused has been identified as Aqib Ahmed Renzu resident of Nishat Srinagar.

Case under FIR No 50/2023 U/S 354, 354A, 354D registered in RM Bagh Police station.

Srinagar police on X informed, “One SMC corporator Aqib Ahmed Renzu of Nishat Srinagar arrested for sexual harassment, outraging modesty and online stalking. Strong technical evidences in this matter were produced by the brave victim. FIR No 50/2023 U/S 354, 354A, 354D registered in RM Bagh Police station.”

Man slips to death while collecting firewood in central Kashmir

A man died after he slipped while collecting firewood in Rezan forest area in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday.

An official told that Showkat Ahmad Tekri, son of Gh Hassan Tekri of Gujerbasti Rezan slipped and fell down from the upper reaches of the forest area, which resulted in his on spot death.

The heavy rainfall had triggered slippery conditions in the area.

He said that soon after the incident, police reached the spot and recovered his body.

“After medico-legal formalities, his body will be handed over to her family members for the last rites,” he said. KNO
