DGP sanctions Rs.80 lakh special welfare relief for NoKs of deceased police personnel

Over rupees 46 crore special welfare relief sanctioned in 2020

Jammu Jan 15: Continuing with its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families of the police personnel who have passed away while in service, the Director-General of Police Shri Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 80 lakh as Special Welfare Relief for NoKs of four deceased police personnel.

The special welfare relief of rupees 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased personnel SI Mohd Ashraf, HC Vir Vikram, Sgct. Sandesh Sing and Foll. Mehraj-ud-Din. 

Rupees one lakh each has been already paid to the families/ NoKs  for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund.

Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families including NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.

Pertinent to mention that during the previous year 2020, rupees 46.45 Crore   was distributed as special welfare relief among the  NOKs of 298 deceased police personnel/SPOs.

10 held for trying to vitiate peaceful atmosphere outside Jama Masjid after Friday prayers: Police

Srinagar police on Saturday said that they have arrested ten persons for trying to vitiate peaceful atmosphere outside Jama Masjid in Nowhatta after Friday prayers.

They said that they will be booked under relevant sections of law.

Srinagar police on X informed, “10 Hooligans arrested for trying to vitiate peaceful atmosphere outside Jamia Masjid Yesterday after friday prayers. They shall be booked under relevant section of law. Public is requested not to indulge in such acts failing which law will take its own course.”

Mason falls from rooftop of house in Bijbehera, dies

A mason died after he fell down from a rooftop of a house in Zirpora area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.

An official told that Nazir Ahmad Ganai son of Abdul Salam Ganai of Zirpora was doing some work on the roof of the house when he slipped and fell down.

Biker killed in Anantnag road accident

A biker has died in a road mishap in Ranipora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning.

An official told that a motorcyclist, identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Kuchay, lost control of his bike and skidded off the road, resulting in his death.
