Coaching centre sealed in Kulgam for punishing students after picture goes viral

Kulgam, Jan 29: A private coaching centre at Pahloo area of Devsar in South Kashmir’s Kulgam was sealed by authorities on Friday after corporal punishment picture of students went viral on social media.

Chief Education officer (CEO) Kulgam, Mohammad Ashraf Rather told news agency—KNO that the coaching centre has been sealed.

“Investigation is going on. We are checking the reason behind the incident, as why students were asked to stand barefoot on frozen snow,” he said.

On Thursday a coaching centre “A1 Tution” in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district forced students to take off their shoes and made them stand bare feet on the frozen snow.

Parents said that for not paying fees, students were asked to stand barefoot on snow in this bone chilling winter who also demanded action against teachers.

However, teachers said that they asked students to stand on snow just for creating indiscipline.

The teachers alleged that few parents even beat them.

10 held for trying to vitiate peaceful atmosphere outside Jama Masjid after Friday prayers: Police

Srinagar police on Saturday said that they have arrested ten persons for trying to vitiate peaceful atmosphere outside Jama Masjid in Nowhatta after Friday prayers.

They said that they will be booked under relevant sections of law.

Srinagar police on X informed, “10 Hooligans arrested for trying to vitiate peaceful atmosphere outside Jamia Masjid Yesterday after friday prayers. They shall be booked under relevant section of law. Public is requested not to indulge in such acts failing which law will take its own course.”

Mason falls from rooftop of house in Bijbehera, dies

A mason died after he fell down from a rooftop of a house in Zirpora area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.

An official told that Nazir Ahmad Ganai son of Abdul Salam Ganai of Zirpora was doing some work on the roof of the house when he slipped and fell down.

He said that he was immediately rushed to SDH Bijbehara, where he succumbed to injuries. KNO

Biker killed in Anantnag road accident

A biker has died in a road mishap in Ranipora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning.

An official told that a motorcyclist, identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Kuchay, lost control of his bike and skidded off the road, resulting in his death.
