17 drug peddlers, narco smugglers booked under PIT-NDPS in Srinagar: Police

Srinagar, Oct 19: At least 17 drug peddlers and narcotic smugglers have been booked under PIT-NDPS in Srinagar, police said here on Wednesday.

PIT-NDPS is preventive detention for one year akin to PSA.

“Seventeen Drug peddlers and Narcotic smugglers booked under PIT-NDPS. PIT-NDPS is preventive detention for one year akin to PSA, but focused upon persons indulging in drug peddling, narco smuggling etc,” police tweeted. (KNO)

In addition to application of detentive laws like PSA & PIT-NDPS, substantive laws also used wherein 132 FIRs registered, 222 drug peddlers/Narco smugglers arrested in NDPS act in the year 2022. Narcotic helpline 9596770550 is fully functional & Citizens of Srinagar are reporting
