(Asian News Hub) – Three local unidentified militants have been killed in an encounter that broke out between militants and security forces at Kawarigam village of Achabal hamlet in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday and all the three are locals belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit, police said.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of Police, Army’s 19 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area in the afternoon.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the ensuing gunfight, three militants have been killed while the search operation is going on in the area. ” All three are locals and they were affiliated with LeT outfit,” the IGP said.
